Hotel Development in the Pacific Northwest has continued to grow at an impressive rate. Since publishing our last edition in August 2017, 36 new hotels at varying stages of development have been added to our list of properties. While there have been relatively few cancelled projects, the number of delayed projects has increased significantly. According to our list, approximately 50 projects have experienced delays. Some of these delays are in the construction phase, which could be attributed to rising construction costs, or to challenges scheduling overextended construction companies. Also, many of the projects are being held up during the planning phases.
