With 2014 half over, job growth in the region appears to be accelerating with 3.3 percent job growth over the last 12 months. Over the last 17 years, we have only seen job growth above 3 percent once before, in 2005.

One in eight new jobs is in the Construction industry, the fastest growing industry in the region. Looking at residential building permits, the City of Portland is increasingly driving building construction just as most other communities in the region are slowing their plans for future residential construction.
